How to Play Indian Rummy Game?

Rummy, the most famous card game in the world played by many.  Rummy has wide variety of games but most of the basic rules and terms are similar for all.  In India, the game has been referred as Indian Rummy.  Many believe that popular Indian Rummy is derived from the famous European Gin Rummy and Rummy 500 game.

The Indian Rummy is easy to learn and play. Indian Rummy game can be played in between 2 to 6 players with 1 or more pack of cards. A standard cards pack contains cards of King as High, Ace is Low and Numbers from 2 to 10 continued by J (jockey), Q (Queen), K (King) and two joker cards.

How to Play Indian Rummy

Indian Rummy is played with two decks of cards with 2 Jokers.  13 cards are randomly dealt to each player and a toss is done to decide which player makes the first move. Also one card will be drawn as the joker for that game only.

To make the show you need arrange the cards in sequence or sets. Two sequences are definitely required in which one should contain exact sequence like same color, same symbol sequence and without Joker. The second sequence should contain the same color, symbol and Joker can also be used. The sets should contain the same number or face with different colors or symbols.  To complete the show you have to make one set or sequence with 4 cards. Joker can be used anywhere except the one sequence (Life).

The points will be counted based on the cards which are not fit in the sets. If you don’t have one sequence without Joker, then all the cards will be counted. Usually the games will be played for 101, or 201. Player, who reaches more than the game limit, will be eliminated from the game. Player with least count is the winner.
